Bachelor Betting Pool 2019
The most recent season of The Bachelor featured a man choosing from a pool of 30 women. Most legitimate Bachelor betting sites offer advantageous bonuses for first-time depositors, as well. ABC will give us multiple seasons of the show. In 2019, for example, we had a season of The Bachelor, a season of Bachelor. Welcome to BarCanada. Sure, you could spend Masters week coming up with some of the best values when it comes to the odds on the 87 golfers in the field at Augusta National in 2019.
But there’s more fun to be had than that.
Just like March Madness and bracket pools, betting on golfers is classic, simple and holds your interest on the tournament. This list, like our group of bracket alternatives, adds in some different strategy and complexity. One of them also may cost you a lot more than just the few bucks you were going to throw on Tiger Woods.
So here are some ideas for other Masters pools:
1. Calcutta
We mentioned this one in our bracket alternatives, and it’s the same concept: You get a group of people together and each golfer is up for bid at an auction. You spend real dollars on your picks and all of it gets thrown into a pool. Depending on the rules, a percentage of the pool is paid out for various accomplishments, with the majority of it going to the person who took the green jacket winner.
You could pay out for the Day 1, 2 and 3 leader, for the worst golfer who finishes above the cut line, for the low amateur, etc. But there’s no limit to the amount of money you can spend.
2. Fantasy leagues
This one is familiar for fantasy golf enthusiasts. You pick, say, six golfers, with four starting and two on your bench. You can cycle in your bench players after each round if you so choose. Scoring can be based on a variety of stats. You can also use a snake draft to get a bigger team of golfers together.
3. Tiers
This is sort of like the fantasy league option, but it’s trickier: The field is split into tiers based on their Official World Golf Ranking, with the top golfers slotted at the top, the next group of talents in the next level and so on for six tiers. You pick one golfer per tier and accrue the six players’ scores throughout the week. Lowest score obviously wins.
Here’s a version of that pool that I really like:
4. Pick ’em
While researching this, I stumbled upon this idea: You put the names of every player on slips of paper and it’s $5 to pull a random name, as many or as few as you want. That leads to strategy: If you end up with, say, Brooks Koepka, do you keep pulling names or stop there? The top five winners are paid out by percentages of the pool.
The new season of The Bachelor premieres on Monday night, and you can play along with the show from week-to-week in The Bachelor Fantasy League. Each week, we’ll pore over all the episode previews to give you the best fantasy picks. Which contestants are surefire fantasy locks in Week 1? We’re here to help.
Bachelor Fantasy League is an online fantasy game where viewers can pick a team of contestants each week that will score points according to a set of weekly categories. Each week, ABC will reveal a specific set of categories for a given show – “receives a rose” or “kisses Colton” – and you have to pick the 10 contestants who you believe will score the most points.
All you have to do is visit ABC.com/BFL and sign up. Then check out the categories for this week and select 10 contestants. Make sure to lock in your picks before 8:00 p.m. ET on Monday.
You might be thinking that Week 1 is a total toss-up, as we don’t know much about the 30 different women who will by vying for Colton’s heart. You’d be mistaken! ABC has given us plenty of teaser and preview footage that can help shape your fantasy roster.
You can watch a short 20-second video introduction from each contestant on the Bachelor YouTube channel. It’s a good way to get an early indication of who your favorites may be, and should help you attach a name to a face when the show finally begins. There’s also been a number of episode previews floating around Twitter. Note: Our picks are based on all available footage that emerges prior to an episode. Some of these picks could be considered small spoilers.
The objective in The Bachelor Fantasy League is to pick the 10 women you believe will score in multiple categories. If one of your picks checks off more than one box this week, for example, you’ll get points for each category they score in. Keeping that in mind, here are our best picks for Week 1:
Receives the “First Impression rose”
Past relationships with Aly Raisman, Becca Kufrin and Tia Booth lead me to believe Colton is into brunettes, but HANNAH B. is one of the darkest blondes…. These are very scientific calculations.
Ultimately, I think Hannah and Colton will bond quickly over their mutual love of football, as she’s from Tuscaloosa. I’m fully expecting a “Roll Tide” as she gets out of the limo. – Marissa Kasner
Receives a rose
Last year, 21 of the 29 contestants received roses in the first episode, so this pick is really more about choosing the woman you believe will A) receive a rose and B) score in other categories.
We know KATIE uses a prop in her entrance and ERIKA wears something sparkly, and I have a feeling that both make it past the first rose ceremony. My initial favorite to win it all, however, is Hannah B., who I believe can be seen crying in this preview. – Nick Schwartz
Wears something that sparkles
If ABC is generous and includes jewelry, you’re pretty safe to take the field in this category. We see in previews that ERIKA and COURTNEY wear sparkly dresses on opening night. – NS
Brings a gift or uses a prop for her entrance
I’ve never seen an episode of The Bachelor in my life, and if you think that means I consider myself better than you, you’re 100% correct. But it makes fantasy predictions sort of tough, especially in categories like “Brings a gift or uses a prop for her entrance.” I had no idea contestants use props, or even that they get discrete “entrances.” Based on a thorough evaluation of the bios on ABC’s website, Alex D. seems like a pretty safe bet, in that her occupation is listed as “sloth” and one of the trailers shows a woman wearing a sloth costume. Probably that’s Alex D.?
Still, my choice here is undoubtedly CATHERINE, a Dr. Seuss-loving pescatarian DJ whose bio references “her dog daughter, Lucy.” Catherine has all the makings of a reality-TV wildcard, and as such I expect she will do something outrageous upon meeting Colton McBachelor, who is presumably a handsome lunkhead that will praise her free spirit. – Ted Berg
If you want the sure-fire bet, we’ve seen from previews that KATIE uses a deck of cards in her intro. – NS
Kisses Colton (on the lips)

CATHERINE. Maybe it’s the fact that she’s “an up-and-coming hip-hop DJ” that made me think she’ll want to party with Colton right away, leading to a kiss. First impressions are key. – Charles Curtis

Cries (tears rolling)
As there’s not much to go off prior to Week 1, I thought I’d look for qualities that aligned with our favorite franchise crier – Ashley I. – and found more than what I was looking for in CAELYNN. From the east coast, broadcast journalism degree, fabulous lashes. Cry for me Miss North Carolina! – MK
Speaks to Colton in a language other than English
You have a few options here, but none are locks. Revian’sbio reveals that she’s fluent in Mandarin, Courtney says she can speak “gibberish,” and Nina revealed that she’s fluent in Croatian and also learning Spanish.
It’s unclear whether gibberish would even count as a separate language, so we’re going with NINA, who I believe is a pretty safe choice to receive a rose. – NS
Wears the same dress as another woman to the rose ceremony
So I thought I had no chance of actually making the correct pick here, but then I saw this tweet over the weekend…
That’s HEATHER and LAURA. One problem: I don’t believe that’s a rose ceremony — it looks like the first night — but since I have no other reason to suspect two more women will wear the same dress. – Steven Ruiz
The For The Win staff will be playing Bachelor Fantasy all season long, and as an experiment, we’re pitting Bachelor die-hards (Marissa, Nick and Steven) against first-time viewers (Charles and Ted) to see who comes out on top.
Marissa’s picks: Bri, Caelynn, Cassie, Catherine, Courtney, Demi, Elyse, Erin, Hannah B., Laura
Nick’s picks: Alex B., Cassie, Courtney, Demi, Erika, Erin, Hannah B., Katie, Laura, Nina
Steven’s picks: Alex D., Bri, Catherine, Courtney, Elyse, Erin. Hannah G., Laura, Nicole, Tayshia
